Beyond Green is on the move!

Sustainability services for businesses

After almost four years at the Edinburgh Technology Transfer Centre the Beyond Green team has moved office. The University of Edinburgh’s business incubation centre has proved to be the perfect launch pad for our business. We’ve enjoyed being part of a community with other young companies and like-minded people, surrounded by academics in a supportive environment. But it’s done its job – we’ve outgrown our space and moved onwards and upwards!

12 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh
We moved into number 12 South Charlotte Street on 23rd October, bringing our future-focused, down-to-earth approach to a Grade A listed Georgian townhouse in the New Town.
We’ve discovered that the building has inspiring historical connections – Alexander Graham Bell, scientist and the telephone inventor, was born next door! Rather appropriately from a Beyond Green perspective, he was also the second President of the National Geographic Society, an organisation that has been ‘…protecting the planet since 1888’.
Of the eight organisations and businesses located here, we’re the second with a focus on the sustainability, and proud to be the second Living Wage employer. Hopefully, with our encouragement, others will follow suit – on both counts.

A better space for us and our contacts
The new office provides us with much-needed space for our growing team, where we can create a more collaborative working environment. With sustainability at the top of our agenda, the city centre location also makes it easier to walk or access public transport links to and from our base. And the new shower that’s being installed at our instigation will make cycling – or running – to work a much more professional option for everyone in the building!

In true Beyond Green style, rather than buying all brand new equipment for the office, we have bought some reconditioned monitors and a projector from the Edinburgh Remakery. Led by social enterprise Remade, Remakery in Leith is also a source of refurbished furniture and runs make and repair skills workshops and courses.
We also have plans for the new office that will benefit our clients, partners and city dwellers – such as making desks available for collaborative partners, and using our kitchen facilities for sustainable food projects to support the wider community. Keep an eye on our news blog for updates.
We’re excited to embark on the next stage of the Beyond Green journey – and we’d be delighted to show you round next time you’re passing.
