Following on from our post on resource efficiency, we wanted to give you an overview of how Zero Waste Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Business Support Service works and how it could help your business. This information will primarily apply to you if you are a small or medium sized company based in Scotland.
We are one of Zero Waste Scotland’s delivery partners; after 6 years of working with them, we have extensive experience providing support through their framework.
How does the support work?
We can help you to access the service and work with you to outline a suitable project that will be of most benefit to your company. Typical projects include general energy efficiency reviews of operations and buildings to identify opportunities; specific replacement of existing energy-using equipment such as boilers, heating systems or machinery with more efficient alternatives; feasibility studies for installing renewable and low-carbon energy supplies; improvements to building insulation, glazing or ventilation systems. However, the support is flexible and most opportunities that will save energy and costs can be considered.
Once your project is approved, we will work with you to gather information on your current energy uses, identify the most suitable opportunities and conduct research and cost-benefit analyses on these measures. This may be conducted over the phone and email or with a dedicated site visit from our advisors.
You will then receive a detailed report outlining your opportunities and this will include quantified cost savings and any investment required.
Interest-free loan funding to help with your energy efficiency measures
Your energy project can be a great starting point to help you save energy and costs, or the evidence you need to apply for funding to cover any investments required for the improvements. Zero Waste Scotland also provides interest-free loans that can help with these investments and your project report is the evidence you need for your loan application. You can find further information on the loan here.
The loan programme is also currently providing 15% cashback with your investments (to a maximum of £10,000), so there has never been a better time to begin your energy efficiency project.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a project at your company and we can have an informal chat about getting things moving.
If you want to have a look at previous ZWS projects, ZWS’s website has a list of case studies of projects from all their delivery partners – our own most recent ones include Valvona & Crolla, Scotland’s oldest delicatessen.
