Spring Newsletter – Team changes, B Corp Month, and new projects

In our Spring Newsletter below, you’ll find updates on our work and on our team. We’re welcoming two new team members this quarter, sharing some of our highlights from B Corp Month 2022, and celebrating our new partnerships and projects.

Business Energy Scotland

April 2022 sees the start of a new programme of free support for SME businesses and organisations in Scotland. Business Energy Scotland, which will be run by the Energy Saving Trust, will replace Zero Waste Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Business Support Service (EEBSS).

Beyond Green have delivered over 800 client projects through Resource Efficient Scotland and the current EEBSS programme since 2013 and we are excited to have been approved as a contractor to the new programme to continue this work. Through our previous projects we identified over £10million of cost savings and emissions reductions of over 5,300tCO2e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent) for the SME organisations we helped. We look forward to working with more clients under the new Business Energy Scotland programme and helping them find similar opportunities.

B Corp Month

March is B Corp Month, and this year the theme has been #BehindTheB – sharing what we as a business are doing that make us a business for good, and giving you a peek behind the curtains of Beyond Green.
We’ve been sharing highlights on our LinkedIn page – here are some of our favourites:

Ecometrica Partnership

We are delighted to announce that we will now be formally working with Ecometrica to offer their award-winning carbon accounting platform to our clients – we already have clients eager to use the system.  Beyond Green and Ecometrica have been supporting each other for many years, and this partnership is a natural next step in our collaborative relationship.

Paul Adderley, Beyond Green’s Founder says: “This is an important milestone in our digital transformation strategy to use software solutions to expand our services, deliver more value to our clients and enable our team to quickly share their insight and expertise instead of spending time crunching carbon calculations in spreadsheets.”

After many years of collaboration, we are delighted to formally welcome Beyond Green to our sustainability platform partnership programme. Beyond Green’s customer’s sustainability reporting will now be powered by Ecometrica’s software, benefiting from streamlined data collection, prepopulated emissions factors and automated real-time calculations. All in an audit ready structure that greatly reduces the time taken and increases the accuracy of reporting. This means that Beyond Green can spend more time with their customers advising on the key reduction strategies we’re all going to need on our journey to net zero.” – Gary Davis, Ecometrica CEO

Team changes

We have welcomed a couple of new team members this quarter:

Neil Hutson

Neil has joined our team as a sustainability advisor. With a background in digital marketing, Neil has worked in the environmental sector since 2017 in a variety of conservation and climate change related roles. Most recently Neil worked as a project officer at Changeworks, managing retrofit insulation projects on behalf of a number of local authorities.

“I care about helping organisations meet their sustainability goals and make a difference in their communities by reducing carbon emissions. It’s for this reason that I’m so excited to join the Beyond Green team and work for an organisation with goals, objectives and values that align so well with my own.”

Olivia Harvey

Livi is with us for an internship before heading off to university for an architecture degree. She has been supporting our project delivery through graphic design work, feedback and proofreading, and administrative support.

“I care about the world we live in and particularly the built environment and the potential of good urban design to provide people with happy, healthy lives. I plan to take forward all the knowledge I am gaining through this internship into my studies of architecture to inform my decisions and always put people, and the planet, first.”

Winning RCR project – Net Zero

We are delighted to announce that we recently agreed to deliver Phase 1 of a Net Zero Strategy for the Royal College of Radiologists

This work will include scoping and defining emission boundaries, calculating a Carbon Baseline for 2021 and forecasting emissions for 2022. This project follows on from our recently completed work with the Royal College of Physicians, which you can read about on our website.

We look forward to working collaboratively with the Royal College of Radiologists and helping them on their journey to Net Zero.
